Pier-Olivier Turcot is a lawyer in intellectual property and international law in addition to being a mechanical/aeronautical engineer. While working primarily on drafting and prosecuting patents in the fields of aerospace, mechanical, biomedical and electronics, he further provides legal counsel on numerous projects at the Legal Affairs and External Relations Bureau of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). Pier-Olivier has a B. Eng. in mechanical engineering (aeronautics) from Polytechnique Montréal, a bachelor of civil law from University of Montreal and a masters in air and space law from the Institute of Air and Space Law, McGill University.

Having worked on the development and certification of numerous systems and parts (avionics, engines, structure, acoustics, aerodynamics) during his years at Bombardier Aerospace, he is very familiar with the intricacies of complex high-tech R&D. Additionally, his international law expertise allows him to provide guidance to clients on certain transnational questions.

Pier-Olivier advises clients on the best approach to ensure optimal patent protection with regard to their needs and objectives. His background and experience allow him to draft strong patent applications, prosecute them efficiently and further provide useful expertise on technology and legal matters.

He is fluent in French and English.
