Nicholas Bertram

Nicholas Bertram is an intellectual property lawyer, patent agent and trademark agent. He has developed through his practice an expertise in patent procurement, more specifically with respect to chemical, mechanical and biotechnological subject matter. Having a biochemistry background and research experience in protein crystallography, Nicholas is very familiar with chemical, biotechnology and pharmaceutical matters.

Nicholas develops patent protection strategies tailored to the client’s business objectives. He works closely with clients to identify the key features of their technology that will be the subject of patent protection for purposes of enforcement and commercialization.

Nicholas advises clients in industrial design protection. He assists clients by identifying important trademark, copyright and ownership issues that require attention. He is also brought on to provide expertise in patent litigation matters.

Nicholas volunteers and participates as a member of the Board of Directors of the Visual Arts Centre, one of Montreal’s oldest and largest art schools. He is also the co-chair of the Montreal chapter of the Licensing Executive Society.

He frequently gives conferences on intellectual property matters.

He speaks English and French.
